First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has today been handed over "The Symbol of Humanity" Award by Chairperson of Standing Committee on Social Welfare and Special Education, member of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani.
Azerbaijan`s First Lady praised close friendship relations between the two countries, noting the existing bilateral relations in the State, Governmental and Non-Governmental level.
Azerbaijan`s First Lady said "both countries support each other on the international arena".
Mehriban Aliyeva briefed Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani on the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, touching upon the projects carried out by the Foundation in the country, as well as abroad during ten years of activity. Some of these projects were realized in Pakistani cities. Ms. Aliyeva stressed.
"The Foundation has arranged medical examination of children that found asylum at "Edhi Home" orphanage, and vaccination was done against Hepatitis B. Free-of-charge medical examination was arranged for the poor at Peshawar city's "Akbar Care" Cerebral Paralysis Institute and Women and Children Hospital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region's Lakki Marwat city, as well as 2000 blood-transfusion packages presented to Hamsa Foundation in Peshawar, financial aid provided for the new building of Khyber Eye Foundation. It was noted that a school for girls was built in quake-hit Muzaffarabad city of Pakistan on the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva".
Mehriban Aliyeva stressed huge contribution of such events to continue bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani, in turn, expressed gratitude to Mehriban Aliyeva, Governors of Azerbaijan and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the rendered assistance, adding that she is well aware of the Foundation's activity.
Ms. Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani conveyed greetings and invitation of the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to the First Lady of Azerbaijan. Ms. Mehriban ALiyeva accepted the invitation.
Then, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was presented "The Symbol of Humanism" Award she was conferred as "The Person of the Year 2012" for her good-will activities, her contribution to the ideas of humanity".
