Ambassador: Azerbaijan and Russia have a strategic partnership

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 31 / Trend, S. Ahmadova /

Azerbaijan and Russia have very constructive relations. The two countries have a strategic partnership, Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu told journalists in Baku today.

He said that neighboring countries may have problems.

"Sometimes the national interests do not coincide," he said. "However, Russia and Azerbaijan can discuss problems and announce their positions. One must not look for intent."

Russia's refusal to use the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline will not affect the relations between the two countries. This issue has been discussed for ten years, the ambassador said.

"Russia claims that Azerbaijan transports little oil via the pipeline," he said. "Azerbaijan says that oil is mixed with other kind in Russia and therefore, its quality is reduced. As a result, it turned out that this pipeline is not profitable for either Azerbaijan or Russia."

The ambassador believes that the way out of the situation will be found. The specialists will hold discussions and the pipeline will be used.
