UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon congratulated Ilham Aliyev on Nov. 26 on his reelection as Azerbaijan's president.
"Excellency, I wish to convey my congratulations and best wishes upon your re-election as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. I look forward to our ongoing cooperation, including through the United Nations Country Team in Baku, on matters of mutual interest and I count on the commitment of Azerbaijan to the values and principles of the United Nations. I thank Azerbaijan for its role as the President of the Security Council in October 2013 and I appreciate its dedication to addressing, jointly with the United Nations, global challenges in the areas of peace and security and sustainable development. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," Ban Ki-moon's letter of congratulation said.
