There are no signs that Russia intends to introduce an embargo against Georgia, but the Georgian side is ready for any scenario, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze told media Aug. 19.

Panjikidze consulted with Georgian Minister of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili regarding this issue.

"There are no signs that this will happen," she said. "But nothing can be ruled out, especially if one takes into account our previous relations. Economy Minister confirmed that we are ready for any scenario."

The Russian Liberal Democratic Party voiced the initiative to expand a list of the countries from which the import of products will be banned. This refers to Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, which signed association agreements with the EU.
