Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 1

By Ilkin Izzet - Trend:

Some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) don't respect the laws of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Attorney General Zakir Qaralov told reporters Oct.1.

He said that some NGOs aren't officially registered and don't inform the public structures about the funds they receive.

He also said that reporters working in the foreign press [in Azerbaijan], do not sign the relevant contracts.

"The grants received by some NGOs are much higher than the amount indicated in the information provided," said Qaralov. "I therefore appeal to all NGOs and reporters to respect the laws of Azerbaijan and not to violate the requirements of current legislation. If they continue to [implement] the corruption schemes with the help of their patrons, they certainly will answer before the law."
