Appointment of Azerbaijan’s new judge to European Court to be mulled next year

Appointment of a new judge from Azerbaijan to the European Court of Human Rights will be discussed at PACE's spring session in April 2016, says Azerbaijan's permanent delegate to the Court, Chingiz Asgarov.
Speaking to reporters Oct. 27, Asgarov said Azerbaijan will present its candidates in January next year.
Azerbaijani judge, Khanlar Hajiyev's term of office at the European Court ended in October. He represented Azerbaijan at that organization since 2003.
European Court of Human Rights is an international court, the jurisdiction of which extends to all the Council of Europe's members states that have ratified the Convention for Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
