Azerbaijan – example in issues of tolerance, stability
Baku, Azerbaijan, March 8
By Anakhanum Hidayatova - Trend:
Azerbaijan is an example for other countries in the region in the issues of tolerance and stability, said Latvia's former president, Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
"Azerbaijan is an example to understand that not everyone in one country should share the same ethnicity and religion, but everyone should be equal and should respect each other, as they are the citizens of the same country," Vike-Freiberga told reporters March 8 in Baku.
Countries have to make joint efforts to be prepared for today's challenges, she added.
"After the discussions at the upcoming Global Baku Forum, I hope we will be able to deliver to the world the decisions taken here, the ideas that emerged here on the global healthcare issues, such as epidemics, or child and maternal mortality," added Vike-Freiberga.
Nearly 300 people, including influential politicians, heads of states and governments of Albania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia and Georgia will take part in the event.
The conflicts on ethnic, religious and political grounds, global challenges in the democratic development, education, environment and energy security will be the topics of the upcoming Forum.
Club of Madrid, InterAction Council and Library of Alexandria are the partners of the event.
