Azerbaijan's policy and investor confidence stand at the core of speedy industrialization process in the country, President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with the staff of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park after attending groundbreaking ceremonies for new facilities.
The president said that today Sumgait is the second biggest industrial city in the South Caucasus after Baku.
"Industrial enterprises meeting the highest standards are being established here, which means the creation of new jobs," the president said. “I have been informed that at present more than 8,000 people are involved in construction and management of enterprises in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park.”
“In future this figure will grow even more,” President Aliyev said. “It means all the issues related to unemployment in Sumgait will be resolved. We will continue to support Sumgait's comprehensive development."
As for creation of industrial zones, President Aliyev said this process has become large-scale in the country.
"The Neftchala industrial district has begun to operate,” the president said. “Similar zones are being created in the country’s Hajigabul, Masalli, Sabirabad districts."
President Aliyev said the first big factory is planned to be opened in Mingachevir light industry park in early 2018, that is, industrialization is being carried out rapidly in Azerbaijan.
The president said Azerbaijan's policy, foreign and local investor confidence in the country stand at the core of the speedy industrialization process.
“That is because investments are attracted only to stable countries,” he said. “Azerbaijan is one of the countries with excellent international reputation. Azerbaijan is successfully developing from an economic point of view.”
Ilham Aliyev added that Azerbaijan ranked 35th in the Global Competitiveness Report 2017-2018, published by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
“The beginning of operation of seven facilities in Sumgayit today as well as the launch of substations supplying electricity to these facilities once again demonstrate our successful policy, and we are successfully completing the year 2017,” he said.
