Naval Group, French industrial group is currently discussing with the Azerbaijani authorities to propose a version of its Offshore Patrol Vessel 90 (OPV 90), a sea-proven design adapted to the specific needs of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Trend learned from the company.

‘The OPV 90 offers a comprehensive and reliable capability to fulfill a large spectrum of civilian and military missions, including maritime traffic control, protection of offshore resources, search and rescue, fisheries and marine environments, humanitarian assistance and fight against illegal trafficking. L'Adroit, the first-of-class of Naval Group's OPV 90, has been in service with the French Navy since 2012,” said the company.

Thanks to her multi-mission capabilities and long range autonomy with an optimized crew of 38, the OPV 90 will ensure the Naval Forces of Azerbaijan an outstanding rapid response capability as well as an increased permanence at sea, said the Naval Group.

“The ships will be entirely built (from steel cutting to systems integration)I n Azerbaijan, in an Azerbaijani shipyard with Naval Group experts as counsels. It will allow the local industry to benefit from a comprehensive transfer of technology from Naval Group and to create economic and employment opportunities,” said the company.

“Naval Group proposes a strategic partnership, offering the security and industrial autonomy that Azerbaijan requires and we are really looking forward to working together with the Naval Forces and the Azerbaijani industry.”

“Therefore, we have complete trust in our capacity to transfer our technologies to Azerbaijani shipyards as well as in their capacity to successfully learn and grow from this program to make it a success story and provide the Naval Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan with new reliable and efficient ships adapted to their operational needs and the specificities of the Caspian Sea.”
