BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Armenia will continue to commit provocations against Azerbaijan in order to destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus, well-known Russian expert on international conflicts, investigative journalist Yevgeny Mikhailov told Trend.

He said Armenia is trying to light up another local conflict with its actions.

As a result of shelling from the territory of Armenia, a serviceman of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, who was serving at the Lachin checkpoint, was wounded on June 15. The enemy's firing point was suppressed by return fire, the situation is under the control of Azerbaijani units. The wounded serviceman was treated.

"Despite the fact that Baku and Yerevan signed a trilateral statement with the mediation of Moscow, its conditions are still not fully fulfilled due to the opposition of the Armenian side," he said.

“We see that Pashinyan says one thing in Brussels, then he says another thing in Moscow. Meanwhile, he has declared that he recognizes Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan in Washington," he added.

Mikhailov pointed out that while Azerbaijan is always focused on diplomacy and achieving its goals peacefully, Yerevan is doing the opposite and is blind to Azerbaijan's reasonable arguments.

Following over a month of military action to liberate its territories from Armenian occupation from late Sept. to early Nov. 2020, Azerbaijan has pushed Armenia to sign the surrender document. A joint statement on the matter was made by the Azerbaijani president, Armenia's PM, and the president of Russia. A complete ceasefire and a cessation of all hostilities in the zone of the Karabakh conflict were introduced on Nov. 10, 2020.
