SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, July 6. Peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia will benefit the wider region, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said during an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in the city of Shusha, Trend reports.

He noted that from the beginning, Türkiye viewed the victory in Karabakh not only as the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation, but also as the opening of a historic window of opportunity for peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

"We are proud to witness reconstruction and construction works in the liberated territories. I believe that the soon signing of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia will remove the biggest obstacle to a comprehensive settlement in the South Caucasus. Despite the unfair approach of international organizations over the years towards Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people, under the resolute leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, have regained what is rightfully theirs. It is unacceptable that the states that did not raise their voices in defense of 1 million of our Azerbaijani brothers, once expelled from their homes, should not be allowed to make unjust accusations against Azerbaijan today. The Turkic world should strongly support Azerbaijan against these unfounded claims," Yılmaz added.
