JABRAYIL, Azerbaijan, August 16. The regular field meeting of the Working Group on clearing mines and unexploded ordnance operating under the Interdepartmental Center of the Coordination Headquarters, established in connection with the centralized solution of issues in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, was held in Lachin district, Trend's Karabakh bureau reports.
According to the information, authorized representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) and relevant state structures represented in the Working Group took part in the visit.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the Board of ANAMA, Head of the Working Group Vugar Suleymanov, noted that following the development plan of the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, the Agency and other involved structures, as well as local companies, have carried out large-scale humanitarian demining activities in them.
Furthermore, it was noted that demining projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur are mainly carried out in the fields of residential infrastructure, transportation, energy, agriculture, industrial parks, and other priority areas.
He also underlined that a total of 155,447 hectares have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation from November 10, 2020, to date.
Emphasizing the importance of ANAMA's regularly conducted educational training to ensure the safety of the population returning to the territories liberated from occupation, as well as people working in these territories, Vugar Suleymanov noted that trainings are also conducted in this direction for the population of Lachin city, Sus and Zabukh villages
Subsequently, other members of the Working Group spoke about the work of the structures they represented in this area and discussed the reports submitted.
During the visit, members of the Working Group familiarized themselves with mine clearance operations carried out by ANAMA in the Jabrayil district in the village of Jojug Marjanli, as well as by a local company in the village of Sarijalli, and observed the process of clearing mines and unexploded ordnance by explosion.
