BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 26. Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Elnur Mammadov participated in the high-level segment of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council during his working trip to Geneva from February 23 through 26, 2025, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani MFA.

According to the Ministry, Mammadov delivered a speech at the session, addressing regional issues in the post-conflict period, the ongoing efforts under the "Great Return" initiative, and the current state of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He also responded to the claims raised by the Armenian Foreign Minister regarding Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in Armenia's constitution.

Mammadov provided updates on Azerbaijan's efforts in international courts regarding war crimes committed by Armenia during the previous conflict, as well as efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons, combat landmine threats, and restore the rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from territories now under Armenian control.

Moreover, the Deputy Foreign Minister held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with Guatemala's Foreign Minister Carlos Raúl Morales, Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Maldives' Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Costa Rica's Deputy Foreign Minister Alejandro Solano Ortiz, and Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud, Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the OIC.

The discussions focused on bilateral and multilateral issues, the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's reconstruction and peace efforts, and opportunities for cooperation within the framework of Azerbaijan's presidency at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

In addition, the meetings exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
