CE STATES INSUFFICIENT LEVEL OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION OF AZERBAIJAN IN PRE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN
The Council of Europe (CE) states the insufficient level of public participation in Azerbaijan in the pre-elections campaign, Arzu Abdullayeva, a law-defender, told a meeting with Rene Van der Linden, the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said on Monday.
She noted that during the meeting they held an exchange of opinion on the preparations forthcoming parliamentary elections, as well as issue political prisoners in the country.
В"The chairman of the PACE voice his approval for joint activities of the representatives from the ruling bodies and law-defenders on the removal of a problem linked with the political prisoners,В" noted Abdullayeva. During the meeting the law-defenders came out with concrete proposals on the issues.
According to Abdullayeva, though part of prisoners included in the PACE list of political prisoners were released, the issue of political remains unresolved.
The law-defenders, Saida Gojamanly and Eldar Zeynalov, were also in attendance.
