OMBUDSMAN OF AZERBAIJAN HAS HER OWN PROGRAM FOR MONITORING OF ELECTIONS

The ombudsman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova developed a program for monitoring the course of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the ombudsman Suleymanova told journalists, Trend reports.

With the purpose of raising awareness of the country’s population various seminars, trainings and other events are scheduled aimed at holding fair elections. She also proposed to set up an independent monitoring group to observe the forthcoming elections to the Parliament.

The monitoring group’s functions will be to investigate complaints urgently on the spot and to report to the Central Election Committee (CEC) about them.

The monitoring group’s members will be sent to the remotest parts of the country, to the places of the compact residence of refugees and internally displaced people (IDP)s.

В"We will do out utmost for holding free, transparent and democratic elections in the country”, she stated. According to the ombudsman, she has not received any complaints from citizens till now, but she is confident, they will be.
