(ITAR-ТАSS) - The Ukrainian Minsitry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Ukrainian representatives postponed their mission in comparison of the CIS observers, following the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. “The same time the Ukrainian observers will join the OSCE mission,” Dmitriy Svistkov, the deputy head of the press service of the Minsitry told Trend.

Svistkov said that the CIS observers postponed, but did not cease their mission. “We did it before reforming of activities of the CIS observers,” he noted.

Ukraine mentioned necessity in use of single criteria concerning appraisal of elections in the OSCE countries after appearance of principal disagreements in appraisal of the presidential elections in Ukraine in 2004 by the OSCE and CIS.

Ukraine underlined importance of reforming the activities of the CIS observers and declared about postponement of its participation in the mission in February 2005. “The issue was raised during some meetings within CIS,” Svistkov stressed.
