The Foreign Ministers of the South Caucasus and the Baltic countries will meet in Ljubljana in December 2005.

“Attending the event will be the Foreign Ministers of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia,” Mikhail Saakashvili, the Georgian President, said at the meeting with Vaddas Adamkus, the Lithuanian President. The meeting will focus on integration of the South Caucasus countries into the EU and the NATO, Trend reports referring to Kavkaz-Press. According to Saakashvili, the idea on holding of the meeting belongs to the Lithuanian President, who supports Georgia in integration into European organizations.

Saakashvili underlined that the meeting in Ljubljana would come as decisive one for the South Caucasus countries to determine the direction of the further development of the countries. “I’m sure that irrespective of the problems between Azerbaijan and Armenia, all three countries will be able to adhere to single position on integration into the EU and the NATO,” he stated.

Valdas Adamkus stressed that Lithuania would do their best to speed up Georgia’s joining European organizations.
