The State Minister on conflict settlement of Georgia Georgy Haindrava is in Azerbaijan now and holding consultations, the Georgian Embassy in Baku told Trend.
His visits program is to meet with the Azerbaijan presidents administration, Milli Mejlis, the Cabinet of Ministers officials.
Haindrava is chairman of the state commission on the Meshetian Turks and the issue of their repatriation to Georgia, identification of the exact number of those wishing will be the main subject of the talks. In this connection, Haindravas visits program involves also a trip to Sabirabad district, the place of their compact residence.
It should be noted, Georgia undertook commitments while joining the Council of Europe on returning the Meshetian Turks. They have been deported from the Georgias southern area- Samtshe-Djavahetia in 1940s. They number about 280,000 within the CIS space. The wish to come back to Georgia has been voiced by 30,000 people.
