Oka cars also taken out of production in Azerbaijan

Russia takes out of production Oka cars, which do not meet Euro-2 standards, adopted by the European countries. As a result of it the cars will be taken out of production in Azerbaijan as well, Khanlar Fatiyev, the head of the Ganja car plant producing Oka, told Trend.

Besides, the plant plans to increase annual production of UAZ cars up to 1,500 units. In accordance with the estimation by the Company, the demand for UAZ cars will considerably grow in 2006.

According to Fatiyev, during the first half-year the issue is due to be determined with Chinese producers. The negotiations are currently continuing in this regard.

At present the plant reconstructs 20,000 sq m workshop. Completion of the work will lead to production growth at the enterprise. Besides, the plant intends to open one more representation in the southern region of Azerbaijan.

400 Oka cars and 172 UAZ cars were produced at the enterprise over 2005. The enterprise has 6 representations at the territory of the country. 3 of them locate in Baku, the rest are in Ganja, Imishli and Nakhchivan. Salon and service center will be opened in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic soon.
