CoE Cabinet of Ministers discusses Armenia's occupation policy Azeri delegate to PACE

On Wednesday the Cabinet of Ministers of the Council of Europe discussed an inquiry by Azerbaijan on Occupant Armenias membership at the CoE is unacceptable due to contradictory to major principles and criteria of the organization in its meeting in Strasbourg. MP Rafael Huseynov, the Azerbaijani parliamentary representative to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), an author of the inquiry, told Trend.

An inquiry by Huseynov was registered as the third item of the draft agenda of 956th meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers with the registration number of 483.

Huseynov said that addressing the gathering an Armenian delegate proposed not to include the issue in the agenda. However, Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev, the head of permanent representation of Azerbaijan at the CoE, stated to the meeting the necessity of including an issue on Armenias occupant policy and moreover, the issue was included in the agenda after the discussions. The ambassador once underlined that as a result of Armenian occupation Azerbaijan faced with a problem of over 1 million refugees, as well as official recognition of Armenia as occupant in the CoE resolution 1416, dated 25 January 2001, Huseynov stressed.

Huseynov said that there achieved a result meeting Azerbaijans interests. The CoE Committee of Ministers took a resolution to prepare a separate answer as a result of discussions. In accordance with the standard documents adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, the answer with the question published earlier is disseminated in two months after repeated publication, he underlined.

Huseynov noted that the discussions and dissemination of the document on unmasking of Armenia can be estimated as a next success of Azerbaijan at the CoE.
