The number of the candidates balloting in the 13 May 2006 by-elections to parliament reached 216, the Azerbaijani Central Election Committee (CEC) told Trend.
209 candidates took signature lists, while 113 submitted their lists to the constituency commissions. 9 people withdrew their candidacy, while 7 candidates were not registered. CEC registered 37 candidates, including, 8 women, 20 non-party, 6 members of New Azerbaijan Party, in ones from Musavat Party, Communist Party, Adalat Party, Great Azerbaijan Party, Azerbaijan Democratic World Party. 6 candidates did not indicated their parties.
Most candidates ballot from Binagadi 2nd constituency 9, fewer of them - Nizami-Ganja 2nd constituency 38.
