Gender Problems of Azeri Women Should be Resolved Jointly State Committee Head

On December 22, a round table took place in Ataturk Culture Center, dedicated to the issues of organizing the co-operation of the NGOs, involved in the women problems, with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Problems. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Committee, Hijran Huseynova, MP of the Azerbaijan Parliament Ganira Pashayeva and Lale Abbasova, as well as heads of the NGOs.

In her speech, Huseynova said that one of the important problems is that there is a lack of communication among NGOs involved in the gender problems, and it adversely affects the quality of their activities. She said that a hand-book will be published next year, which will reflect the names of all NGOs working with women.

The gender problems of the Azerbaijan women should be resolved jointly between the NGOs and State organizations to achieve maximum success, said Huseynova.

The Head of the Gender and Human Rights non-governmental organization, Rena Mirzazade, said that 3,000 NGOs entered into registration in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice. 80 of them are involved in the woman problems. In addition, Mirzazade highlighted the absence of the unity amongst the gender organizations.

During the round table, the participants made a decision on the necessity of creating Co-ordination Council and hold annual congress of the organization.
