Ukrainian Justice Ministry and Azerbaijan Ambassador Discussed Legal Guarantee Cooperation between Two Countries

Alexander Lavrinovich, Ukraine Justice Minister and Talat Aliyev, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Ukraine, discussed legal guarantee of cooperation between the two countries.

Trend Correspondent to Kiev reports that the Press-Service of the Ukrainian Justice Ministry says that the meeting between the Ukrainian Justice Minister and the Azerbaijan Ambassador held on January 18, 2007.

Particularly, they discussed ways out of different difficulties Ukrainian and Azerbaijani citizen's face on the territory of both countries.

172 Azerbaijan citizens are currently serving their sentence in Ukraine. Within bilateral and multilateral agreements signed between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the Ukrainian Justice Ministry is viewing issues concerning 33 Azerbaijan national's extradition to their motherland to serve their sentence there. Two letters of inquiry on extradition of Ukrainian citizens have been sent to the Azerbaijan Justice Ministry. Both countries are fulfilling the Conventions on Extradition of Criminals and Mutual Aid in Criminal Cases.

In addition, the issue on legal guarantee on the agreements concluded during the visit of Ukraine Premier-Minister, Viktor Yanukovich to Azerbaijan in December, 2006 was discussed during the meeting with the Azerbaijani Ambassador as well.

Moreover, the Ukrainian Minister said that the Ukrainian Justice Ministry had no intentions to initiate changes or alterations to be made to the migration law of the country, as Russia does it, when starting from January 15, 2007, amendments moved to the Russian laws вЂ" On Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Migration Account have been put into force.
