Azerbaiajn, Baku / Trend cor. S.Ilhamgizi / The Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP) reported on 24 May, that the Executive Administration of Baku will not allow the ANIP to hold a rally in front of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan.
In spite of the Administration's refusal, the ANIP intends to hold the protest in response to the factual incidents of mass violations of the rights of Azerbaijanis residing in Iran, regarding the policy of national discrimination, arrests and repression. The protest is scheduled for 25 May at 13:00 in front of the house of the diplomatic representatives of Iran.
ANIP was the first political organization, founded and registered in Azerbaijan in 1992.
Etibar Mammadov, the founder of ANIP had been the Chairman of the party until the end of 2004. Presently Mammadov is the Deputy Chairman of the International Democratic Union.
Since 2006 Ayaz Rustamov has held the position of Chairman of the party. Since 2006 Ayaz Rustamov has held the position of Chairman of the party.
