President of Azerbaijan Receives U.S Deputy Secretary of Commerce

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / On 1 June, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received a U.S. delegation led by the Deputy Secretary of Commerce David Sampson.

Ilham Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and the United States are rapidly developing in all areas.

The President said he believes the US delegation's visit will help boost Azerbaijan-USA relations, particularly in the economic sphere. The Azerbaijani leader stated that his country is now focused on developing the non-oil sector, especially information technology, agriculture and transport. President Aliyev welcomed the US companies involved in developing the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan.

The US Deputy Secretary of Commerce conveyed the greetings and best wishes of US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez to the Azerbaijan President. Regarding the US-Azerbaijan partnership, Mr. Sampson said his country highly appreciated Azerbaijan's efforts to assist the US-led anti-terror war, including operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. David Sampson said American companies are interested in doing business in Azerbaijan.
