National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan Decides to Cease Transmission of Lankaran TV

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynly / On 6 June, the National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan made a decision ceasing the transmission of Lankaran TV. The Chairman of the Council, Nushiravan Maherramly, said that the decision is linked with the issue that 30% of the constituent right belongs to the Executive Power of Lankaran City and 70% - TV.

According to him, the period of the license of Lankaran TV was not extended because the Law on Broadcasting does not permit the financing of the TV channel by State.

"We repeatedly notified them of it, but they did not pay attention. Therefore, a decision was made to cease the transmission of the channel," Maharramly added.

He stressed that the transmission of Lankaran TV will be ceased on 18 June. A tender will be announced on the frequency of the channel.
