Heads of Azerbaijan and Turkey Meet in Istanbul

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend K.Ramazanova / The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev held bilateral meetings with the Turkish Prime Minister, Rajab Teyyub Erdogan and President Ahmed Nejdet Sezer, stated the Consular General of Azerbaijan to Istanbul and Azerbaijan's representative to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Sayyad Aran, on 25 June by telephone from Istanbul.

On 24 June, Ilham Aliyev, arrived in Istanbul to attend the jubilee summit of the BSEC. The State Heads of Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed bilateral relations with regards to policy, economy and culture. Special attention was paid to the energy cooperation of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

In addition, the President of Azerbaijan held a meeting with the Executive Director of UNISEF, Ann Veneman.

The BSEC summit will take place in the evening. As a result of the event, a working group on energy security is expected to be established. The summit will cover the prospects of cooperation of the countries of Black Sea basin with regards to energy, trade, transport, protection of environment and the fight against organized crime.
