Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, brought an action against Ganimat Zahid, the editor-in-chief of the Azadlig newspaper.
The Minister demanded to institute proceedings against the journalists due to the article published in the newspaper. The article stated that Heydar Babayev paid all marriage expenditures of the co-chairman of the OSCE's Minsk Group, Matthew J. Bryza, in Turkey.
The preliminary hearing by the lawsuit of the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development against Ganimat Zahid was held in the Yasamal District Court of Baku on 27 September.
The Judge Elchin Sadikhli represented Zahid, the Judge Anar Aliyev - Heydar Babayev at the court.
The next court trial was scheduled for 5 October.
