Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The prices for the Khalg gazeti (Popular newspaper) and Republic newspapers increased by 50% in Azerbaijan.
There was taken a decision to increase cost price from 20 kopecks to 30 kopecks, Humbat Musayev, the first deputy chief editor of the Republic newspaper, said to Trend agency on 7 January. The rise in price of newspapers is connected with increase in price of papers and typographic expenditures.
The founder of the Khalg newspaper and Republic newspapers is the Department on Presidential Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Another official Azerbaijan newspaper has not increased price yet. The newspaper has been discussing the possible increase in price, stated Amil Novruzov, the first deputy chief editor.
However, the prices of independent newspapers have not been increased.
The cost of the Yeni Musavat, Azadlig, Bizim Yol and 525-newspaper was increased to 30 kopecks in 2007.
