Trial of Editor-in-Chief of Azerbaijani Newspaper Postponed

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The court appeal trial of the arrested editor-in-chief of the newspapers Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realni Azerbaijan was postponed.

The Baku Appeal Court reported that it was re-scheduled for 11 January due to bad weather conditions.

Eynulla Fatullayev editor-in-chief of the Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realni Azerbaijan newspapers was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison by order of the Heinous Court on 30 October. Fatullayev was charged with articles published in his newspapers by the lawsuit brought by Tatyana Chaladzeh, head of the State Committee on Refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDP) on 20 April

At present, three journalists are being detained in prison due to their professional activity in Azerbaijan.
