Unusual Frosty Weather to Continue in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 January / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / The weather will be relatively stable in Azerbaijan from 14 to 18 January.

"There will be clouds but no rain during the first quarter of the week. The temperature in particular will rise," Umayra Tagiyeva, the Deputy Director of the National Hydrometrology Metrology Department of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Ministry, said to Trend.

However, according to Tagiyeva, the forecasts in the first quarter of the week will be 1o to 4o in the mornings and -2o to -4o during the night in Baku and Absheron Peninsula, in the Aran regions 2o to 7o in the mornings and 3o to 6o degrees during the night and in the foothills regions of Azerbaijan from 13o to 18o in the mornings and 1o to 6o during the night

Frost and strong snowfall have been observed during the last ten days in Azerbaijan. The record low temperature -6o and -8o was observed in Baku on 7 and 8 January. Warnings of the forecast had been sent by the Department twice. Similar severe frosts were last recorded in Azerbaijan in 1935 at -3.5o.
