Olympic officials call for facts in alleged blood doping

( dpa ) - Olympic officials called Wednesday for more information on accusations that international athletes have been involved in illegal blood-doping.German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) president Thomas Bach said the allegations involving an Austrian blood bank could only be investigated when facts were available.

Bach told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa he had discussed the issue Wednesday with International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge.

They were in agreement that both the DOSB and IOC would make a written request to Austrian authorities for any documents relating to the case.

German broadcaster ARD reported on Tuesday that up to 30 athletes, many of them from Germany, were involved in illicit blood-doping activities revolving around the blood bank Humanplasma.

The management of Humanplasma on Wednesday strongly rejected all accusations of involvement in alleged blood doping.
