Brave Stones Take Documentary To Berlin

( FF ) - The chief organiser of the Berlin Film Festival has praised the Rolling Stones for taking a chance and allowing their new documentary to be shown at the event.

The Berlinale festival won the chance to show Martin Scorsese's forthcoming film about the legendary band and organisers are delighted their hard work to secure the world premiere paid off.

Dieter Kosslick, Berlinale's chief, insists the rockers took a brave step by allowing the prestigious screening to take place in Germany.

He says, "They (The Rolling Stones) had to trust us as a festival that we would know how to handle a premiere of this calibre. Because you can only imagine what will be going on that night on the red carpet."

The first week of the festival - which opens on 7 February (08) - is dedicated to music in cinema and will see a number of big stars grace the carpet including Madonna, who will be appearing alongside such acting talent as Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson.

Kosslick is proud the festival is now able to attract A-list guests.

He adds, "We've worked for years to build good relationships with Hollywood - both the big studios and the independents - and that has paid off."
