Last year, the State Committee for Religious Organizations examined 750 religious books, and prohibited the import and distribution of 140 of them, because they popularize religious intolerance and discrimination.
"The books popularizing religious intolerance were removed from book-shops," Badirov said. But, he did not divulge the number of the books.
According to Badirov, in the recent month, 270 banned religious books were seized at the Astara check point and submitted to the State Committee for Religious Organizations.
