Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 March / Trend / The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan is pleased to announce changes to its Democracy Commission Small Grants Program, the Embassy reported. This program provides small grants to Azerbaijan's non-governmental, non-profit organizations and community groups to carry out projects that promote democratic reforms. The Democracy Commission is interested in funding strong projects in diverse topic areas that promote democratic reforms in Azerbaijan. Suggested project themes include but are not limited to: anti-corruption efforts, contributing free and fair democratic elections, improvement of Azerbaijan's business environment, developing of free and professional media and participatory journalism, etc. The purpose of the changes is to make the program more accessible to civil society organizations from all regions of Azerbaijan and to allow applicants for sufficient amount of time to develop competitive, high quality projects that best utilize their skills and unique expertise.
