Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 March / Trend / Spectators and fans are play a significant role in the development of football, Trend reported referring to AzTV channel, Rovnag Abdullayev, the newly-elected president of Azerbaijani Football Federation Association (AFFA) and head of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), stated.
"A successful match cannot exist without the spectators and fans to develop football and the footballers of this country. We must go to football and love it," Abdullayev said.
"Being AFFA's newly-elected president, I am going to implement programs passed by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to develop football for 2005 and 2015. I must work hard in order to develop children's sport and to progress successfully in this area. We must create favorable conditions, including new sport areas, training fields and stadiums to develop the game of football. However, we will find it difficult without any sponsors and therefore, we should attract businessmen to football as a separate commercial sphere, as is done in Europe," Abdullayev added.
Answering the question of the possibility of sponsors not having to pay taxes should they wish to invest in the development of football, AFFA president said the issue would be considered in Government. A similar practice was used in Turkey which positively affected the development of football.
