Sum of State Aid for NGOs Announced

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / Jeyhun Osmanli, the co-founder of the Republic youth movement 'Irali', stated to Trend that the Azerbaijani Government would allocate AZN 1.5mln to aid NGOs.

Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijani Republic, issued a decree to appoint members of the Council on State Support to NGOs on 16 April.

According to Osmanli, the forum dedicated to presenting of the Council will be held with the participation of NGOs in the near future. The first grant allocationwill be announced soon after the proposals are discussed, which will be submitted to the NGOs who are connected with the functioning of the Council. The overall grant will be allocated to eight different NGO projects.

In addition, technical support will be provided to NGOs to purchase technical and other equipment.

Osmanli stated that one of the priorities of the Council is the activity on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Another member of the Council is the Youth Organization of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. The Council will finance NGOs, which will carry out international and local measures on Nagorno-Karabakh.
