Azerbaijan to Struggle till End on Dope Issue, Revealed in Spanish Sportsmen’s Blood: Vice-President of Federation
Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 July / corr. Trend R.Ergun / The Spanish media reports dealing with organization of international tournament on field hockey in Baku, do not reflect reality. "We strongly object to the Spanish National team's complaints about the tournament held in Baku. They stated that as if we added something in their food and water in Baku," Namig Aliyev, vice-president of the Azerbaijani Field Hockey Federation, said at a news conference held at the Azerbaijani Youth and Sport Ministry on 22 July.
The Spanish National team won the Azerbaijani National team with the score of 3:2 in final match of the international tournament held in Baku in April 2008. Dope test of two Spanish hockey players showed positive results after this final match.
Ismayil Ismayilov, the Deputy Youth and Sport Minister, and Irada Rustamzade, the chief of the Dope Sector, participated in this news conference together with Aliyev.
Accroding to Rustamzade, she has enough data connected with the presence of dope in the Spanish hockey players' blood. "However, I do not have a right to make a statement on this matter," the chief of the Dope Sector said.
According to Ismayilov, Azerbaijan believes that the International Field Hockey Federation can take correct and unbiased decision.
