Hundreds of people, including many who waited overnight, queued in Hong Kong to snap up the last batch of 14,000 tickets for Olympic equestrian events, which went on sale Tuesday.

The tickets, costing 58 to 544 Hong Kong dollars (7.44 to 69.70 US dollars) were sold on a first-come, first-served basis through the China Travel Services travel agency.

The tickets cover six popular sessions, including cross-country and team dressage competitions, reported dpa.

The additional tickets were given to Hong Kong by the Games organizers in early July.

A total of 200,000 equestrian tickets for 13 events were made available to the public, just over half for Hong Kong, the venue of the equestrian events. The tickets offered overseas are already sold out.

The equestrian events, which run August 9-21, have attracted more than 200 participants from Europe, North America and Asia.
