Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 August / Trend corr. E.Babayev / On 8 August, the Pardon Commission under the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration comments its activity.
"The appeals submitted to the Commission will be considered at the meeting. There are hundred of appeals," Vagif Samadoglu, a member from Commission, told Trend on 8 August.
The last amnesty decree was signed in the threshold of the national Novruz holiday. The amnesty covered 59 people. Some 58 jailed were released from the rest part of imprisonment and one's term was cut.
Since 1995, 44 decrees on amnesty have been issued, which covered 4,700 jailed.
Samadoglu did not exclude amnesty of jailed journalists.
At present, the are three detained journalists held in Azerbaijan are Ganimat Zahid, chief editor of Azadlig newspaper, Mirza Sakit, a journalist of Azadlig newspaper, and Eynulla Fatullayev, chief editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realni Azerbaijan newspapers.
