(dpa) - American Matthew Emmons shot a disastrous final round in the men's 50-metre rifle three positions competition Sunday to hand Olympic gold to China's Qiu Jian.
Emmons held a clear lead in the final round but scored just 4.4 to finish in fourth place, leaving Qiu to take gold with a total of 1272.5 for the three shooting positions of prone, standing and kneeling.
Jury Sukhorukov of Ukraine claimed silver with 1272.4 points, which equates to a losing distance of 0.8 millimetres, while Slovenia's Rajmond Debevec took bronze with 1271.7 points.
