Australia's Emma Snowsill took Olympic gold in the women's triathlon Monday, beating rival Vanessa Fernandes of Portugal into second place, dpa reported.
Triple world champion Snowsill claimed victory in a time of 1 hour 58 minutes 27 seconds for the 1.5-kilometre swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, finishing 1:06 minutes ahead of Fernandes.
