The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) uncovered ammunition in Fuzuli, 270 kilometers outside Baku. The region is located is southwestern Azerbaijan.
ANAMA uncovered two anti-tank mines, one gun and grenade and a stock of shells and bullets in the Mil channel traversing the region, ANAMA's regional department told Trend .
ANAMA is now de-mining the area.
A 925,689-square-meter area was de-mined in Azerbaijan in December 2008.
During the procedures, 3,914 unexploded mines and other ammunition were uncovered, ANAMA told Trend earlier.
Roughly 339 people, 5 mine-sweeping devices and 30 mine detector dogs were engaged in the process. A total of 78,698,669 square meters have been de-mined thus far. Around 371,553 unexploded mines and other ammunition were found and destroyed. The de-mining procedures were held in the Tartar, Agdam, Fuzuli and Agdam regions and Sumgayit.
No explosions took place in Azerbaijan in December 2008.
According to various statistics, as many as 61 people have been killed and 138 injured as a result of mine explosions since September 2001.
