Azerbaijan's expedition to Antarctica cost 250,000 manat.
The Azerbaijani expedition team to Antarctica led by Ecology and Natural Resources Minister and Air and Hazardous Sports Federation President Huseyn Bagirov traveled from Dec. 24 to Feb. 1.
The Azerbaijan-Antarctica expedition team reached the highest point on the continent at a height of 5,140 meters - Winson Mountain.
"Western University paid a significant percent of the cost. The expedition team paid the remaining sum," Bagirov told reporters.
The minister plans to write a book based on the materials collected in Antarctica.
He said two samples were taken from the continent for research.
"Our delegation's aim was to get Azerbaijan's name in the history of Antarctica's conquest," Bagirov said.
