Azerbaijani judokas will participate in the youth championship to be held in Yerevan, only if their security will be provided by the Armenian government and the International Judo Federation.
"The Azerbaijan Judo Federation appealed to the government agencies with a request to achieve Armenia's providing our judokas' security through diplomatic channels," Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Zair Mammadov told Trend on Aug. 18.
The Youth European Championships on judo will be held in Yerevan on Sept. 9-14. Delegations from 39 countries will attend the championship. Total number of participants will be approximately 500 sportsmen.
The Azerbaijani judokas do not avoid participation in competitions, said Mammadov.
The Federation's Secretary General said that the Azerbaijani judokas can adequately raise the Azerbaijani flag in the championship.
