One of the world's most recognizable figures in the soccer world, Pele, criticized his country's preparations on Friday in their organization for the 2014 World Cup, Xinhua reported.
According to the Brazilian soccer icon, not one single stadium in the country, as it stands currently, is appropriate to receive a World Cup game.
According to the legend, the Brazilian people should not be the ones responsible for the payment needed to perfect the stadiums. The country's president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has already declared that the state will not finance the improvements needed to adequate the stadiums. This leaves the Brazilian Confederation of Soccer with only one option: private investors.
The National Bank of Economic and Social Development has already accepted to bear some of the burden, but their money will not cover all of the necessary improvements. The entity's resources will only cover an estimated one-third of the costs needed, roughly $3 million.
Adding his opinion regarding the winner of this year's Brazilian Championship, the "King" declared that he believes that either Sao Paulo or Atletico-MG will take this year's title.
