A fine worth 60,000 manat has been applied due to felling of trees in Baku within the last 2-3 months.

"At present, facts of felling of trees rather decreased. The public must also pay attention to this issue. Public control is implemented at the highest level in Azerbaijan. People protest against felling of each tree. The number of planted trees is much more than the cut ones, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Hussein Bagirov, told the official website of "Yeni Azerbaijan" party on August 28.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has ordered concerning planting of 3 million trees in Baku and surrounding areas for a short period. It means that number of trees increased twice in Absheron. There are 11 areas for landscaping have been determined in the Absheron peninsula. A landscaping draft around the lake of Zych, as well as territories of former trade centers of "Sadarak" and "Bina" has been also prepared.

Minister said that operations on planting of greenery in Baku and regions are being conducted. "About 172,000 trees have been planted along the road of Baku-Alat-Hajigabul and 230,000 different trees and bushes along the road of Zych-airport.

These operations were completed along the road of Zykh-airport in 196 hectare-territory. Irrigation system was constructed to water trees," Bagirov said.
