Pakistan's security forces have killed six militants and arrested 11 others in the on-going search and clearance operations in northwest Pakistan's Swat and Malakand districts during the last 24 hours, the army said Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The army said in a daily update that the security forces conducted search operation at a village Gul and Gul Shah near Sam Shin in Swat and destroyed three terrorists houses, two bunkers and apprehended four militants.
Elsewhere in Swat, the security forces demolished the hideout of a known terrorist Rasheed at Chinala, killed the terrorist Khurshid at village Dandial near Thakot, killed five militants during exchange fire at Thana area and apprehended seven suspects from Barpursar, said the statement.
In nearby Dir, the army said, the security forces carried out search operation at village Sripao, Nambatai near Lal Qila and recovered 15 kg explosive including improvised explosive device ( IED) accessories from a mosque.
On relief activities, the army said, so far 275,283 cash cards have been distributed amongst the internally displaced persons ( IDPs) of Malakand.
Over 1,600 militants have been killed since Pakistani security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April after militants in early April entered the Buner district from the neighboring Swat district and refused to vacate the area despite their pledge to do so.
