The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held the community work day at the coast of Buzovna settlement of Baku under the Caspian Week.

The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has prepared an action plan under the Caspian Week to be held on Sept. 23-30.

Representatives of the local executive bodies and municipalities also attended the event.

The ministry holds the community work day at an area of 15-20 kilometers to clean the area from garbage, Deputy Director of the Ministry's Department on Integrated Ecological Monitoring over the Caspian Sea, Mikayil Jabbarov told journalists.

During the Caspian Week, there will be held community work day and roundtables with the participation of residents, local executive bodies and educational institutions, Jabbarov said.

Under the UN resolution, the International Day of Sea has been celebrated worldwide at the last week of September since 1978.

Every year, Azerbaijan marks last week of September as Caspian Week.

The area of the Caspian Sea is approximately 380,000 square kilometers. The coastline of the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan is 955.08 km, Russia - 695 km, and Kazakhstan - 2,320 km, Turkmenistan - 1200 km and Iran - about 900 km. A lot of companies in the world are interested in the oil and gas fields of the Caspian Sea.
