Gymnast Aliya Garayeva won the silver medal of the World Cup competitions held in Greek Kalamata.

On the final day of competitions Azerbaijani gymnast performed in individual finals, in one of them - with the ribbon and took the second place, Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation told Trend . After getting 27.25 points, she lost only 0.3 points to Russian gymnast Daria Kondakova.

"I get the silver medal in these competitions in the second phase of the World Cup. It is very nice. Of course, it inspires me and my coach with confidence that we will show good results at the April tournament.

Aliya took the fourth place in the all-around competition, the fifth one - in the finals with a hoop and the eighth one - with a rope.

Azerbaijani other gymnast Samira Mustafayeva was unable to complete the competition. She performed with only three items. She did not perform the exercise with the ribbon. It should be noted that last week Samira was the fourth in the tournament in Riga.

As a result of two exercises Jaila Guliyeva, Stephanie Trayanova, Anastasia Prasolova, Nigar Abdusalimova, Jamila Huseynova and Aelita Khalafova got 52.05 points and took the third place in all-around competition, losing to Belarus and Italy. The team took the fifth place in the two finals with five hoops. Our team ranked the eighth place with three ribbons and two ropes. It should be noted that a week earlier, our group won the tournament in France.

The competitions of the next stage of Grand Prix were held in France this week. Two Azerbaijani gymnasts: Zeinab Javadli (among adults) and Jala Garatova (among juniors) performed.

Zeinab took the twelfth place among 24 female gymnasts in all-around competitions with the final result of 98,475 points. Olympic champion Yevgenia Kanayeva won. Jala was the ninth (92.015) among 16 gymnasts. It should be noted that Garatova took the second place, performing earlier in Romania, together with Lala Yusifova and Aysha Mustafayeva. Lala Yusifova became also the first with the ball.

"Before the European Championship in Bremen, gymnasts will perform only in St. Petersburg, Azerbaijan's head coach, Mariana Vassilyeva, said. Garayeva Alia, Anna Gurbanova, Samira Mustafayeva, Zeinab Javadli and junior team will participate in the international tournament and the World Cup in the northern capital of Russia April 2-4.
